About Pichilemu
Pichilemu, originally known as Pichilemo, is located southwest of Santiago in central Chile and is the capital of Cardenal Caro Province. It comprises an urban centre and twenty-two villages, including Ciruelos, Cáhuil, and Espinillo. Pichilemu is home to approximately 13,000 residents, however numbers swell in the summer when many Chileans seek refuge on the coast.
Pichilemu has many expansive black-sand beaches and is a tourist destination for surfing, windsurfing and kite boarding. The region hosts several surf championships each year at Punta de Lobos, arguably the best surfing location in South America. While tourism is the main local industry, forestry and handicrafts also play an important role.
Getting Here
Océanos is located in Pichilemu, central Chile, 130 miles from Santiago and arriving by bus or car is easy.
By bus
Nilahue and Pullmandel Sur run many buses from Santiago to Pichilemu on a daily basis. From Santiago, go to Terminal Alameda and hop on a bus – ask for the faster bus route that goes via Melipilla, this will get you to Pichilemu in around 3.5 hours.
By car
Pichilemu is about a three-hour drive from Santiago – the Highway 78 to Melipilla is most direct route. We can provide exact directions to the Océanos Surf House in your accommodation confirmation email.
